The Rock makes stunning return to WWE Monday Night RAW, drops electric tease vs Roman Reigns

Speculations were rife that a former WWE champion would return to the wrestling promotion's ‘Day 1’ special episode. Chief Content Officer Triple H had previously teased that a former champion would be gracing the show. The crowd went berserk when Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson made a stunning return on New Year's Day before Jinder Mahal hit the ring and tore into the USA people.

Mahal, leader of the Indus Sher stable, reminded the fans that he was a past WWE Champion, and expressed his disappointment at what America had become. He said that the people of the USA have never been so divided and they are a joke. He even sang the National Anthem in Punjabi and was booed by the fans.

As he continued his heated message, The Rock, who received a thunderous reception, interrupted him and called Mahal a ‘Day One Douchebag’. Notably, the Canadian professional had said that Rock should be ashamed to represent these people. In response, “The People’s Champion” said he was proud to be an American, and he was proud to represent the people. He also recited a custom rendition of the United States National Anthem to Mahal.

The Hollywood superstar then said that Mahal is not funny and no one likes him. Things flared up as Mahal was being insulted and "The (Modern Day) Maharaja" decided to attack his rival. The Rock fought back with his trademark right hands, dropping him with a Spinebuster and ending the feud with The People's Elbow.

The Rock then wished his fans a Happy New Year and dropped a tease as he questioned whether he should sit at the "head of the table". This was a clear indication from the WWE legend for his long-awaited fight with the undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns.
