Ahead of the recently concluded Women's Premier League 2024 mini-auction, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) had a purse of 1.05 crores INR. They had let go of players while retaining most of those who played a few games or two for the team. Talking about their performance in the inaugural season early this year, they failed to reach the playoffs despite having the best of players at their disposal.
Meanwhile, at the auction, their most expensive buy was Georgia Wareham. The leg-break was part of the Gujarat Giants, the team that also had an abysmal season. Meanwhile, RCB signed her for 40 lakh INR. Apart from her, England international Kate Cross might make a debut this season alongside Australia International, Sophie Molineux.
From the Indian lot, Ekta Bisht, who famously was part of the 2017 team that played the final of the ODI World Cup six years back, has been selected at the age of 37. Uncapped player Shubha Satheesh, and capped players such as S Meghana, and Simran Bahadur have been included in the team before the conclusion of the player auction
