WPL 2024 Schedule: Women's Premier League 2024 Match Dates, Venues, Upcoming Match Timetable, Fixtures

The complete schedule for the second edition of Women's Premier League (WPL) has been released and the tournament will be held in two cities - Delhi and Bengaluru. The WPL 2024 will kick-start on February 23 at the Chinnaswamy Stadium with a clash between the previous finalists Mumbai Indians (MI) and Delhi Capitals (DC).

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), Gujarat Giants (GG) and UP Warriorz (UPW) are the three other teams competing in India's premier women's T20 cricket franchise league. The inaugural WPL season was a huge success. Harmanpreet Kaur-captained MI lifted the trophy for the first time by defeating Meg Lanning-led DC by seven wickets at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. 

WPL 2024 will follow the same pattern as the inaugural season

Similar to the previous season, the 2024 WPL season will have 22 games, including the final on March 17 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. All five clubs will play each other twice in the group stage. Notably, there will be no home-away format and this will be the first time the tournament will be held outside Mumbai. 

The top three teams in the league stage will qualify for the playoffs. The team that tops the league table will directly qualify for the finals, while the second and third-placed teams will play in the Eliminator on March 15 in Delhi. 

A total of 60 players were retained by their respective franchises from the previous season. Meanwhile, in the 2024 WPL auction held on December 9, 2023, the five teams together bagged 30 players, of which nine were overseas cricketers.

Days after the WPL 2024, the 17th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is also taking place, and cricket fans are being invited to the months-long festival of cricket. According to reports, the men's T20 cricket franchise league is scheduled to take place from March 22 to May 26. The tournament will be crucial for the Men in Blue as the 2024 T20 World Cup is also around the corner.
