With 23 50+ scores, Sachin Tendulkar held the record of the most 50+ scores in ICC events prior to the start of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2022. But Virat Kohli, who was at par with Tendulkar leading into the game against Pakistan, bagged his 24th 50+ score against the arch-rivals and surpassed the Master Blaster.
The Indian great bagged his 14th Player of the Match (POTM) award in the shortest format of the game, and thus went on to become the player with the most POTM awards, overtaking Mohammad Nabi’s tally of 13.
Virat Kohli, who is fast becoming one of the legendary batters to have ever played for India in the history of cricket, surpassed Aaron Finch and David Warner to bag the most 50+ scores in Australia. Gathering 747 runs at an average of 74.70, Kohli scored his 9th 50+ score on Australian soil.
