'Kohli- Rohit vapas aa gaye'- fans react to India's squad for Afghanistan T20I series

The men in blue are set to host Afghanistan in the 3 match T20I series at home on the 11th of January. The squad has been announced and it has caused a lot of hype among the fans as this is the first series in preparation for the T20 World Cup 2024 in June. There are a lot of talented players in the squad who the fans are eager to see in the future and it will be a treat to watch them play and show their talent. The Indian Cricket Board seems to trust this side to get great results in not only this series, but also other series in the future. The return of some major players after a long time in T20I’s is also something to watch out for.

The squad will feature Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, Yashasavi Jaiswal, Virat Kohli, Tilak Varma, Sanju Samson, Rinku Singh, Jitesh Sharma, Shivam Dube, Washington Sundar, Axar Patel, Ravi Bishnoi, Arshdeep Singh, Kuldeep Yadav, Avesh Khan and Mukesh Kumar. This on paper looks like a well balanced squad with a perfect mix of middle order and top order batters along with some great pace and spin options. It will be interesting to see how this squad will perform against a much more promising Afghanistan side filled with some great T20 players. 

Return of Virat and Rohit

One of the biggest talking points was if the big powerhouses in Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will be back in the T20 setup after a long break of 14 months. The fans are hyped to see both of them return with Rohit to lead the side once again and  Virat to play with his form returning in the last few months. There might be the question of them adapting to the T20 format after a long break, but we cannot leave them out of the game since they have given some remarkable performances in the past in T20’s as well. It will still be great to see them back in the shortest format of the game.

This squad still looks good even after some major players who are ruled out due to injury. This is still a very talented side with the right amount of balance to perform against any side they can. They will still have to bring their best game since this isn’t the same Afghanistan side who were playing as associates, instead they are a side filled with quality players, who have won games for their side and have proven themselves as real dark horses in the 2023 World Cup as well. The fans and selectors will hope that they live up to the standards and play their best cricket.
