Indian Cricket Board on Friday confirmed that star batter Virat Kohli is back in India to tend to a family emergency. Not much details has come out but the Board has said that the 35-year-old will be back soon.

It is expected that Virat Kohli will be back in South Africa for the first test in Centurion. The last time India played a test at this venue, Virat Kohli had led the side to his final win as the skipper of the side.

Opener Ruturaj Gaikwad is set to be sidelined for the test series after injuring his finder during the 2nd ODI. The release from the board said “Gaikwad hasn’t fully recovered from the blow he sustained in the ring finger while fielding in the 2nd ODI. He remains under the supervision of the medical team”

While Kohli going back home is a huge shock, there is massive good news for the fans. The Indian Board has confirmed that Virat Kohli will be playing in the first game in Centurion. This should allay any fears the fans might have that their favourite batter might not be part of the test team.

No replacement has been named for Ruturaj Gaikwad so far as the Indian team is stacked with openers. Rohit Sharma will have to choose between Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal as the opener of the test team. KS Bharat is already with the Indian having replaced Ishan Kishan who has flown back home due to personal reasons.
