Former New Zealand pace bowler Simon Doull was recently seen as a commentator during the India vs South Africa white ball series. In the next few days, the real test for the Indian Cricket Team is set to begin.
Centurion will host the first test match which is set to begin on the 26th of December. Right before the first Test can begin, Simon Doull has praised one Indian player. The former Kiwi pacer has called this player the ‘Most Selfless’ in recent times.
India star earns praise from Simon Doull –
Former Kiwi pace bowler Simon Doull has lavished huge praise on Indian skipper Rohit Sharma. The 36-year-old is set to lead the team during the two-match Test Series in Centurion and Cape Town.
Rohit Sharma played a key role with the bat for India during the ODI World Cup 2023 campaign. Simon Doull while speaking on Star Sports India said “It will be tempering his game a little bit. The one thing I have observed about Rohit Sharma in the last 10-18 months is that he has probably been the most selfless cricketer I have seen in a long time. He has done everything he possibly could for his team to win”
Simon Doull went on to say “He made this team, he played in a certain way to allow the others in the team to play their natural game, especially in the white ball format. In the World Cup, we saw that he set the tone at the top of the order, which allowed the middle order to play their game their way. So it’s a slight change for him, not too much. I still want him to be the aggressive Rohit Sharma. We do see it in Test Matches”
Ever since Rohit Sharma opened the batting in Test Cricket he has found a new lease of life. In his very first series which was against South Africa in 2019, Rohit Sharma scored his career-best 212 runs.
The former Kiwi pacer finished off by saying “The captaincy thing, he is getting better. He has become a very, very good captain. He was always a good white-ball captain, but I think he has become a slightly more aggressive red-ball captain. I am looking forward to seeing more of that through this series”
