Few overs later, he even took the wicket Kyle Verreynne (15) to complete his six wickets in the innings. He ended the game with a bowling figure of 6/15. It was courtesy of his spell which saw South African team getting all out in the first session of second Test. Dealing a significant blow to the Proteas' top order, Mohammed Siraj secured three wickets among the top-order batsmen, leaving the hosts in a state of confusion and vulnerability against the relentless onslaught of the speedster. His bowling figures reflect an impressive and impactful performance.

India made two changes for the second Test match

The second Test between India and South Africa kicked off at Newlands, Cape Town on Wednesday, January 3. Having suffered a defeat by an innings and 32 runs in the initial match, India's aspirations for a historic victory in the Rainbow Nation have been thwarted. Nonetheless, despite the setback, the Men in Blue have a valuable opportunity to even the series, a feat they have achieved only once before in South Africa.

This marks the inaugural assignment of 2024 for both teams, and they've each made a couple of changes to their playing XI. India, particularly in the all-round department, opted for two changes by excluding Shardul Thakur and Ravichandran Ashwin. They introduced an additional pacer, Mukesh Kumar, and included Ravindra Jadeja to bolster their batting unit.

Maintaining Prasidh Krishna in the lineup, India has chosen to go with four frontline pacers, including Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj. This strategic decision led to the replacement of Ashwin with Jadeja. The last time the left-arm spinner participated in a Test in South Africa was in 2013.
