Aiden Markram scored his seventh Test century

Arguably, the standout performer in the Test match so far was Aiden Markram. On a pitch where every batter found it difficult to score, Markram scored a resilient century. This is his seventh century overall and probably the best one so far. Coming to open the innings, Markram saw wickets tumbling from one end but he kept on playing his shots.

It was after the wicket of Marco Jansen were, the star Proteas batter shifted the gears and took the attack back to the Indian bowlers. He even smashed 20 runs off Prasidh Krishna’s first over to take South Africa past the Indian lead. Markram was eventually held out to Rohit Sharma at Deep mid-off in trying to up the scoring rate for 106 runs off just 103 deliveries. His innings included 17 boundaries and two mighty sixes.
