Rassie Van Der Dussen and Ryan Rickelton led the charge with the bat as MI Cape Town was in a dominating mood. The two openers took the game away from the home side by scoring an imposing 243 for five from their 20 overs.
Faf Du Plessis won the toss and chose to field first. The Wanderers have been known for their high-scoring encounters in the T20 format in recent times. The game saw a delayed start due to rain but luckily no overs were lost.
Gerald Coetzee was the sole change for the home side as the Du Plessis-led side had some amazing fast bowlers. MI Cape Town meanwhile was coming into the game on the back of Klassen’s knock which took the game away from the opposition.
Disciplined MI Cape Town smash Joburg Super Kings –
After being put into bat, MI Cape Town took charge of the game and scored 243 from their stipulated 20 overs. Rassie Van Der Dussen regaled the crowd with his amazing batting to score an amazing ton.
Ryan Rickelton has made a name for himself with many comparing him to Quinton De Kock. The left-handed batter did not let the reputation die down as he scored 98 runs. Nandre Burger bowled a brilliant final over and restricted the massive score of MI Cape Town.
Chasing 244 to win, Joburg was never in the chase. The game was all but over when the Super Kings were reduced to 47/4 in the sixth over. Leus Du Plooy with 48 and Romario Shepherd with 34 brought some respect to the score.
George Linde and Olly Stone bowled their hearts out to claim two wickets apiece. Rassie Van Der Dussen was given the player of the game award. MI Cape Town skipper praised the opening batters for laying down the foundation for the huge total.
JSK skipper Faf Du Plessis on the other hand praised his bowlers and said at one stage it looked like his team would chase 300. The Next game for the two sides is on Monday and Tuesday respectively. Joburg Super Kings will travel to Durban, while MI CT will host Sunrisers Eastern Cape.
