2022 witnessed some of the best cricket being played, mainly because of the Asia Cup 2022 and the recently concluded 20-20 World Cup 2022. There were moments that broke the hearts of the fans and there were moments to cherish from the game as well.
With 2022 just days away from reaching its end, we decided to handpick the three fastest centuries from players of Test-playing nations in the shortest format of the game. As one could expect, the list does feature India’s superstar Suryakumar Yadav.
Here are the three fastest centuries in T20Is in 2022:
3) Suryakumar Yadav - 49 balls
Suryakumar is fast becoming India’s trusted batter in the white-ball format and it remains to be seen if the multi-talented batter would make it count in the longest format of the game, given that he is yet to get an opportunity in Tests. However, the unorthodox batter proved his prowess in the T20I format in 2022 and eventually went on to make over 1000 runs in total.
Suryakumar scored a century against New Zealand in the 2nd T20I of the three-match series on November 20, which India played post the conclusion of the 20-20 World Cup 2022. The right-handed batter brought up his century off just 49 balls, eventually recording the third-fastest century in T20Is in the ongoing year and it was India who won the match by 65 runs.
2) Suryakumar Yadav/ Rilee Rossouw - 48 balls
The list features Suryakumar Yadav again and this time, his century came against England, way back on July 10, when the Men in Blue were chasing a mammoth target of 216 set by the Three Lions. In reply, the right-handed batter scored a century of 49 balls, in vain as India fell short of the target by 18 runs.
Prior to the start of the 20-20 World Cup 2022, when South Africa toured India, Rilee Rossouw displayed class right throughout and eventually went on to score a century in the 3rd T20I off just 48 balls, letting Proteas set a target of 227 runs and eventually winning the game by 49 runs.
1) David Miller - 46 balls
While Rilee Rossouw was one of the batters who stood out when South Africa toured India in October, David Miller was the other who roared back to form and continued on his stupendous run against India, on Indian soil. To add more, the southpaw scored a century in the 2nd T20I played on October 2, chasing a target of 238 runs.
To add more, chasing a huge target, it was Miller who stood up for the team with his fighting knock, recording the fastest century of 2022 in T20Is, although one has to agree that despite his efforts, the Proteas fell short of the target by 17 runs.
