The match number three of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) eventually turned out to be a one-sided affair in the end as the Multan Sultan scored a thumping win against Karachi Kings by a huge margin of 55 runs. With this win the Multan Sultans have gone to the top of the points table while Karachi Kings have been doomed at the bottom spot.

Multan Sultans batted first and set a formidable total of 185 runs for the loss of only 2 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Reeza Hendricks starred with a scintillating innings of 79 runs off just 54 balls, including 7 fours and 3 sixes. Dawid Malan contributed 52 runs, while Khushdil Shah added 28 runs to the scoreboard.

Amidst all the bowlers proving to be costly, Mir Hamza and Shoaib Malik each claimed one wicket for Karachi Kings in the first innings. But at the end of the innings the Karachi Kings bowlers were unable to restrict the batting prowess of both Hendricks and Khushdil at the death overs who assaulted Karachi Kings bowlers to all parts of the ground.

In pursuit of the target, Karachi Kings fell short, managing only 130 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Shoaib Malik, the veteran batter fought valiantly with 53 runs off 35 balls, including 5 fours and 2 sixes. However, his efforts were in vain as other batters failed to meet the demands of the run-chase.

Mohammad Ali claimed 3 wickets for Multan Sultans, supported by two wickets each from David Willey and Abbas Afridi. Spinner Usama Mir also contributed with a wicket. Ultimately, Multan Sultans emerged victorious by 55 runs, starting their PSL 2024 campaign with a win. Reeza Hendricks earned the 'Player of the Match' award for his outstanding performance. Next, Multan Sultans will face Shadab Khan's Islamabad United in their fifth match of PSL 2024 at Multan Cricket Stadium on Tuesday, February 20.
