Karachi Kings suffered a major setback as 13 of their players contracted food poisoning amid the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 9. According to reports, one of their players was taken to a local hospital after his condition worsened. The news emerged from the camp ahead of Kings' fifth match against Quetta Gladiators on Thursday, February 29.
Notably, star players James Vince and Daniel Sams did not feature in Wednesday's match fixture against Islamabad United, where they lost by seven wickets. They were deemed unfit due to stomach issues. Their head coach, Phil Simmons, also had some health problems, as per reports.
However, the home team's management had confirmed that they could field a strong team against the Gladiators at the National Stadium. While English batter Vince is back in the line-up, all-rounder Sams is still out of action for the Shan Masood-led side in their crucial match.

How have Karachi Kings fared in PSL Season 10 so far?
Kings could not enjoy a win in their first game in front of their home crowd as they suffered a massive defeat by Islamabad United on Wednesday, February 28. After being inserted to bat first, Kings could score just 165-5 in 20 overs. Apart from veteran Keiron Pollard and Leus du Plooy, none of the other batters could make a significant impact in their batting innings. In reply, on the back of openers Colin Munro and Alex Hales' magnificent partnership, United chased down the target in 18.3 overs with seven wickets in hand.
Kings opened their campaign with a 55-run defeat against Multan Sultans. They have lacked consistency so far and as a result, they have won only two of the four matches they have played and are currently in fifth place in the points table.
