India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi hosted the Indian athletes who competed at Tokyo Olympics at his residence. India had their best Olympics performance ever this time around winning a Gold, 3 Silver and 4 Bronze medals.Even the Bronze medal winner, India's ace Badminton player PV Sindhu attended the event and also met Modi.
The two had ice-cream as well as Modi had promised her in the call prior to Tokyo Olympics. In a video interaction with Tokyo-bound athletes, the PM had recalled about how Sindhu was barred from having ice-cream before the 2016 Rio Olympics. At that time, she had revealed that she didn't have ice-cream for a long time and didn't have it before Tokyo Olympics too.
Sindhu had then said, "Since I am preparing for the Olympics, I have to do some sort of diet control. So I don't eat ice cream so much, only once in a while." Modi had then promised her to have ice-cream with her after the Olympics.
Sindhu's father PV Ramana was delighted after his daughter won the Bronze medal at the Olympics and had then said that she will have ice-cream with the PM. "The PM encouraged her and told Sindhu that we will eat ice-cream together after returning from Tokyo. Now, she will ear ice cream with PM," he had said.
All the Indian Olympic athletes attended PM's residence to have breakfast with him on Monday morning. They had also attended the Independence Day celebrations on Sunday when the Prime Minister had praised the Indian contingent for keeping the country's flag high with their exceptional performances.
