in 2011, Pakistan made it to the ODI World Cup sei-finals when the tournament was last held on Indian soil.

The Pakistan Cricket Board has announced its World Cup squad. Inzamam-ul-Haq made the announcement in a press conference. The Men in Green had suffered a lot of injuries and held back the World Cup squad announcement for the same reason. Babar Azam will lead the side during the World Cup in India.

In the Asia Cup that recently concluded, Pakistan ended on the wrong foot after starting beautifully in the multilateral tournament. They lost to Sri Lanka by 2 wickets in a humdinger of a virtual semi-final that took place in Colombo. The Men in Green have been playing a lot of ODI cricket and will want to make a statement in the World Cup.

Pakistan have won the World Cup in 1992 and reached the final of the tournament in 1999. They have not been able to win a World Cup post-1992 and will want to exploit conditions in India that are very similar to home turf. In the World Cup, India will take on Pakistan at the Narendra Modi Stadium on October 14.

Hasan Ali comes in for Naseem Shah. Usama Mir comes in as another wrist-spinning option. When it comes to the pace attack, Shaheen Afridi, Mohammad Wasim Jr. and Haris Rauf make up the cream of Pakistan's pace attack. Mohammad Nawaz will be another all-round option while Faheem Ashraf fails to make the cut after playing in the recently concluded Asia Cup. Shadab Khan retains his place in the side and also remains vice-captain.

The Men in Green have been playing cricket continuously, they played an ODI series against New Zealand at home, and then they played a Test series in Sri Lanka. Post that many of Pakistan's first-rate players took part in the Lanka Premier League (LPL). Following this Pakistan played a three-match ODI series in Sri Lanka against Afgsnistan before coming straight into the Asia Cup.
