India cemented their top spot in the 2023 ODI World Cup points table with another dominant win over the Netherlands in Bengaluru on Sunday, November 11. India, the first team to qualify for the semi-finals, will face New Zealand in the knockout stage. With all their top 5 batters scoring 50-plus runs, India posted their second-highest World Cup score (410/4). A walk in the park for India in the second innings as they hammered the Dutch for 160 runs.
Shreyas Iyer, who scored a brilliant century, was awarded the Player of the Match. The 28-year-old scored his maiden ODI World Cup hundred - 128 off 94 balls that included 10 fours and five sixes. Iyer stitched a 208-run partnership with KL Rahul for the fourth wicket. Apart from his batting display, Iyer also hogged the internet after expressing his anger at a section of fans in the stands at the Chinnaswamy Stadium.
During the second innings, Iyer dropped a catch and he seemed unhappy with the crowd. In a video circulating on social media, the middle-order batter can be seen staring at the crowd while fielding on the boundary line.

Apart from Iyer, Rahul also scored a century against the Netherlands. The wicketkeeper batter broke the record of the fastest World Cup century by an Indian with his 64-ball 102 runs. Captain Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill provided a strong start and then Kohli registered his seventh 50-plus score of the tournament.
Talking about Iyer's batting performance so far, the right-hander was under scanner for the first half of the tournament. However, he turned things around with four fifty-plus scores in the second half. Iyer is currently ninth in the list of highest run scorers with 421 runs at an average of 70.17 and a strike rate of 106.58.
