During the 20th game of the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023 between England and South Africa in Mumbai, the crowd chanted Sachin Tendulkar's name. The city hosted its first game of the tournament with the top teams of ODI cricket in action. For probably the first time in the tournament, a stadium was housefull throughout the game. Meanwhile, during the game, the crowd chanted Tendulkar's name during the first innings.

Meanwhile, talking about the game, the defending champions, England won the toss and elected to bowl first. Despite a few moments, the decision proved to be a monumentally wrong one. After losing Quinton de Kock (4) early, the likes of Rassie van der Dussen and Reeza Hendricks put together 121 runs. Both batters scored a fifty but the team was reduced to 243/5.
At this stage, the likes of Heinrich Klassen and Marco Jansen put together 141 runs with the former getting a quick hundred. On the other hand, Jansen scored an unbeaten 74 runs to help the team reach a daunting total of 399/7. Chasing exactly 400 runs, the Three Lions lost eight wickets for 100 runs. With Reece Topley not supposed to bat, the likes of Mark Wood (43) and Gus Atkinson (35) put together 70 runs for the last wicket.
The crowd was entertained with this batting display after South Africa mauled the reigning champions. Meanwhile, the Blue Brigade lost the game by 229 runs.

Meanwhile, the 2011 World Cup winner has been the brand ambassador of the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023. Since the 2015 edition, he has been the ambassador of the tournament. He is the second player in the world after Pakistan's Javed Miandad to play six ODI World Cups.
