The former Pakistan bowler Sikandar Bakht has put forth a new assertion regarding Team India's performance in the 2023 World Cup. He suggested that captain Rohit Sharma deliberately tossed the coin too far during the toss to prevent the opposing captain from clearly observing the outcome and potentially contesting the decision with the match referee.

India and Pakistan have experienced divergent World Cup journeys. While the Indian team secured their spot in the 2023 ODI World Cup final as the first qualifier, Pakistan, with only four victories, concluded fifth and faced elimination. Discussing the matter on a Pakistani media show, Bakht articulated his theory on how India might be employing tactics to influence the toss;

"If you see closely enough, whenever Rohit Sharma gets to flip the coin for the toss, he also tosses it far away from the other captain. It is almost far enough that the other captain never really gets to see what the actual outcome of the toss was," he said

Bakht even uploaded a video compilation of all toss featuring Rohit

India's team has experienced an equal number of victories and defeats in the coin toss, with a total of five each in the ten matches they have participated in during the tournament. Initially, they faced losses in the toss during their first two league-stage encounters against Australia and Afghanistan. However, their fortune changed as they secured victory in the toss in the subsequent three matches, including the semi-final clash against New Zealand. Bakht further shared the video clip of his statement on social media, accompanied by a compilation featuring all the tosses from India's matches throughout the tournament.

"Very strange the way Rohit Sharma throw the coin at toss, far away, don’t let other Captains to see, compare to other Captains in the WC , any reason??" he wrote on Twitter.

This incident is not the first instance where a former Pakistani player has put forth an unconventional theory regarding India's success. Hasan Raza, a former player, had previously suggested that Indian bowlers achieve enhanced movement with the ball due to the use of a special batch provided to them before the start of each innings.
