Redemption of Australia
Australia finally broke their losing streak and announced its arrival in the 2023 World Cup. Electing to bat first, Sri Lanka were in a strong position until rival captain Cummins broke a dangerous opening stand of 125. Australia were outplayed till then, but soon Sri Lanka fell like a pack of cards to see themselves bundled out for 209 in 43.3 overs.
It was not a threatening target for the Australians, but Dilshan Madushanka removed David Warner and Steve Smith in the same over to keep Sri Lanka in the hunt.
