The 2023 ODI World Cup has been one of the best in terms of run-scoring with the bat. The batting-friendly pitches plus the electric fast outfield have seen many records tumble. Another record tumbled on Wednesday when Australia took on Netherlands in New Delhi.
Glenn Maxwell scored the fastest century by a batter in the history of ODI World Cup history on Wednesday. The record came courtesy of some crazy hitting and what made it special was the fact that Maxwell broke this record just 18 days after it was set.

5. AB De Villiers 52-ball century (Sydney, versus West Indies (2015))
The South African maestro treated the crowd in Sydney with some masterful strokes against the West Indians. The Caribbean bowlers had no clue against the rampaging ABD as he got to his century in just 52 deliveries to score one of the fastest ODI World Cup centuries.
4. Glenn Maxwell 51-ball century (Sydney – versus Sri Lanka (2015))
Australia the home team was in good form during the 2015 ODI World Cup. Sydney saw yet another classic this time from one of their own. Glenn Maxwell hit the hapless Sri Lankan bowlers all over the park to score one of the fastest ODI World Cup centuries off just 51 balls.
3. Kevin O Brien 50-ball century (Bangalore – versus England (2011))
The Irish team was struggling against England while chasing 328 runs to win in Bangalore. Kevin O Brien then played his innings off a lifetime to score a memorable century. The three-figure mark came in just 50 balls to score what was then the fastest century in ODI World Cup history.
2. Aiden Markram – 49-ball century – New Delhi – versus Sri Lanka (2023)
Sri Lankan bowlers were up against a very inspired South African team playing in New Delhi. Aiden Markram joined the run riot after centuries by Quinton De Kock and Rassie Van Der Dussen had scored centuries. The 29-year-old scored the fastest century in ODI World Cup by a South African off just 49 balls.

34-year-old Australian Glenn Maxwell created history in New Delhi by laying a brutal assault on the Netherlands bowling. Maxwell scored the fastest century in ODI Cricket in just 40 balls to break the record set by Aiden Markram just 18 days prior.
