23-year-old Rachin Ravindra continues his dream campaign in the 2023 ODI World Cup. The New Zealand all-rounder smashed his third century in Match 35 against Pakistan at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Saturday, November 4. At a strike rate of over 114, the left-handed batter amassed 108 runs off 94 balls with 15 fours and a six to help the team post a mammoth total.
With Kane Williamson returning to the side, Ravindra replaced Will Young as the second opener. Devon Conway departed after getting off to a solid start soon after the powerplay. However, Ravindra got a perfect partner in Williamson and the duo went on to add 180 runs for the second wicket. Babar Azam and his bowlers had no clue how to get rid of this partnership as this Kiwi right-hand left-hand combo took the game away from them.
Williamson never showed signs of being away from cricket action as his batting style and elegant strokeplay were eye-pleasing as always. The NZ skipper and Ravindra were in the race to notch up their respective centuries, with the latter being the first to reach the triple figure. Ravindra completed the milestone with a single off Mohammad Wasim Jr in the fourth ball of the 34th over.
Ravindra shatters multiple records
The youngster once again excelled with the bat and cemented his reputation as the find of the tournament and a player to watch out for in the future. His stellar innings not only helped his team stay in the driver's seat but also broke multiple world records. Ravindra surpassed legendary Sachin Tendulkar's record for the most World Cup hundreds at a young age. Tendulkar scored 2 centuries at the age of 22 years and 313 days while Ravindra added one more at the age of 23 years and 351 days.

The Indian-origin cricketer became the first New Zealand batter to slam three centuries in a single World Cup edition. Additionally, he has crossed the 500-run mark in the ongoing edition of the World Cup. With 523 runs at an average of 74.71, Ravindra is currently the second-highest run-getter. He is the second youngest player to reach 500 runs in a World Cup edition.

Coming back to the match, Pakistan managed to get rid of both the set batters in quick succession soon after Ravindra scored his hundred. However, Daryl Mitchell, Mark Chapman, Glenn Phillips and Mitchell Santner played effective cameos in the end to push their team total to 401-6.
