The Indian bowling attack has been sensational, to say the least, in the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023. In 8 matches so far in the tournament, India has won all the 8 matches. The majority of wins have come on the back of India's sensational performance with the ball. Every Indian bowler has stepped up and helped the team to win. It has made them the best bowling unit of the tournament.
Both statistically and impactfully, the Indian bowlers have been spot-on. They have been right on the money in all the matches. All the bowlers have contributed to the team in one or the other match. The batters do not have it easy against the Indian bowlers. Jasprit Bumrah with the new ball has swung the white cherry both ways. It has helped other bowlers in the lineup.
Mohammad Siraj has complimented Bumrah well with his swing bowling. The star of the pace attack has been Mohammed Shami, who has taken the tournament by storm with his incredible seam bowling and wicket-taking abilities. Ravindra Jadeja has been the best spinner of the tournament, along with Adam Zampa and Kuldeep Yadav. The latter has bowled some magical spells and helped India.
'I can't say this is the best-ever Indian pace attack to date' - Sourav Ganguly
India has not conceded more than 280 runs with the ball in a match till now. The highest total registered against India has been 273 by New Zealand. In all the other matches, India has bowled excellently. In the last three matches, India has restricted its opponents to scores lower than 150. Naturally, there has been an opinion that it is the best-ever Indian bowling attack in a World Cup.
Speaking about the same, Sourav Ganguly felt otherwise. The former Indian captain said that India's attack in the 2003 ODI World Cup was better than India's attack today. "I can't say this is the best-ever Indian pace attack to date. In the 2003 World Cup, (Ashish) Nehra, Zaheer (Khan), and (Javagal) Srinath also bowled brilliantly," said Ganguly.
