The British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak is set to watch the match between India and England in the ODI World Cup 2023. The high-profile match between two of the best teams in cricket will take place in Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana stadium in Lucknow. Sunak is likely to fly to India to watch the match between India and England.
Sunak also happens to be a cricket fan. Many a times, Sunak has showed his love for the game. After England won the 2022 T20 World Cup in Australia, Sunak had invited the English squad for his office to have some chat. Along with several players, Sunak had a fun session and also played cricket in the outyard of the office. Sunak recognized the success of England.
It was good to see the PM of England appreciating the achievements of the cricket players. In the Ashes 2023 which took place in England during the English summer, Sunak met the Australian PM Anthony Albanese and had some conversations regarding the Ashes. The two PMs were involved in a funny banter as well. Sunak will visit Lucknow to watch England play.
England with better record against India in ODI World Cup since 2010
Currently, both the teams are in a pretty good position in the ODI World Cup with a win in their previous match. While India won the big match against Australia in Chennai, England lost its first match against New Zealand in Ahmedabad, but came back well and won the match against Bangladesh in Dharamshala. India will play Afghanistan, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and New Zealand before taking on England.
India and England have faced each other in the ODI World Cup twice since the 2010s. In 2011, the two teams were involved in a high scoring thriller, which resulted in an emphatic tie. In the 2019 ODI World Cup, England had the better of India in a high scoring game. Both the teams will be looking forward to the match in Lucknow. India will be hoping to reverse the results this time around.
