In the sixth game of the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023, New Zealand and the Netherlands in Hyderabad. While the two-time finalists, NZ was coming off a massive win against the defending champions, England. On the other hand, the Dutch lost to Pakistan in a game in which the Europeans played well in patches. Meanwhile, in the game, the Orange Brigade won the toss and elected to bowl first.

The Blackcaps had a poor start as they played three maidens to begin with. However, the likes of Devon Conway and Will Young improved the scoring rate and put together 67 runs for the first wicket. The former got out to Reolof van der Merve after getting 32 runs. After this wicket, Rachin Ravindra (51) carried his form after the brilliant hundred against England. Will Young (70), who bagged a duck against the Three Lions, scored another fifty.

Apart from them the likes of Daryl Mitchell (48), skipper Tom Latham (53), and Mitchell Santner (36*) helped the team reach a match-winning total of 322/7 on a dry and slow surface.

In reply, the Dutch had a poor start as they lost three wickets for 67 runs. Not to forget, the team lacked massive partnership which they needed during this run chase. At 67/3, the likes of Colin Ackerman and Teja Nidamanuru put together 50 runs for the fourth wicket. The latter got run out in the 16th over. After this, Ackerman and skipper Scott Edwards added another 40 runs. 

The former scored a half-century and was the only one to do so from the team. Edwards tried his best but got out to Mitchell Santner, who took a five-wicket haul and became the first NZ spinner to do so in the World Cups. After the wicket of Edwards, the rest of the wickets fell quickly and the team was bowled out for 223, losing the game by 99 runs.
