This might be a big blow for Australia ahead of the match against England. Yesterday, the news arrived that Maxwell suffered an accident while on a golf course away from cricket. In the process, Maxwell sustained a concussion, which ruled him out of the game against England. Now, they will be without the services of Marsh as well. It leaves a couple of huge holes in their lineup.

Australia will be forced to play both Cameron Green and Marcus Stoinis. That would mean that Australia would be playing with David Warner and Travis Head as openers, followed by Steve Smith and Marnus Labuschagne at 3 and 4 respectively. For the spots after that, Australia have a lot of alterations to make, considering their form in the recent matches was very good.

Australia and England have a lot to play for in Ahmedabad

Glenn Maxwell was the main binding force in the lower middle order. In his absence, Australia might ask Cameron Green to bat at 5. Following him would be the likes of Josh Inglis and Marcus Stoinis and 6 and 7 respectively. In a stadium like Ahmedabad, this might work, given how well the Pacers can bowl at the venue. But Maxwell and Marsh will be genuinely big misses.

Against England, Australia needed a win to have a hold on their spot in the semifinal stage of the tournament. But with some of their key players getting ruled out of the match, England might fancy their chances. The defending champions will have to come out all guns blazing, as they must qualify for the Champions Trophy 2025, which will make it a relevant match for both sides.
