The dismissal of Marcus Stoinis against South Africa in the ODI World Cup 2023 has surprised many. Even Steve Smith's dismissal in the match was hard to believe. For the naked eye, both the dismissals seemed not out. Many people involved in the match talked about the dismissal. South African bowler Kagiso Rabada, Australian coach Andrew McDonald, and others commented on it.

Marnus Labuschagne, who was on the non-striker's end during Stoinis' dismissal, gave his opinion on the dismissal. The Australian number 4 said that Australia will appeal with the apex body regarding the dismissal and seek clarity with them. "We will get clarity or will seek clarity because it's the World Cup," Labuschagne said during the post-match interview. Labuschagne was not happy with the decision of the umpires.

Labuschagne said that umpires did not know what was happening in the middle. "The umpires really did not know what was going on. They saw what we saw so it wasn't too much going on. For me it looked on the field... his hand was off the bat, it hit the glove and because it didn't go to the side on angle Marcus and I were just asking have they checked," said Labuschagne.

The Australian middle-order batter mentioned his ambiguity over the dismissal. Labuschagne claimed the umpires to have not seen the dismissals from various angles. "Because they just checked the spike from the front on. They didn't get the close-up, zoom in of the side, that we had and that just looked like there was clear daylight between the two gloves and handle," added Labiuschagne.

Labuschagne claimed that the vision was clearer from the umpire's room than that in small screens on mobile. "But once again I have been in the third umpire's room and the screen is big, much clearer than me watching from the middle in the pixelated screen. There was some talk that maybe it hit the handle of the bat. I don't know," concluded Labuschagne.
