'King leading all cricket charts' - Fans react as Virat Kohli becomes highest-rated fielder after first three 2023 ODI World Cup matches

Kohli and Ishan Kishan (13 points) are the only Indian players who have made it to the top 10. All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja is ranked 11th.

Virat Kohli has been rated the biggest impact fielder by the Cricket Governing Body after the first three matches of the ODI World Cup 2023. This clearly shows that Kohli's contribution to the team's success is not just limited to his batting prowess. The former India captain is always electrifying on the field and he did not disappoint at the ongoing marquee event either.Β

Kohli tops the list in terms of fielding impact with a total of 22.30 points. The 34-year-old has taken three catches in three matches, only behind Australia's David Warner and New Zealand's Matt Henry. While Warner ranks 3rd in the list with 21.32 points, England's Joe Root is Kohli's close competitor with 21.73 points. The top ten fielders in the list have two players each from Pakistan, New Zealand, Australia and India.

Kohli and Ishan Kishan (13 points) are the only Indian players who have made it to the top 10. India's all-rounder and premier fielder Ravindra Jadeja is at number 11, showing the dominance of the Men in Blue on the field. On closer inspection, India has led the way with 14 catches so far in the tournament, saving 10 runs and four accurate throws. The team has only dropped two catches in the first three matches.Β

In an effort to encourage players to give their best on the field, the tournament hosts have started a unique tradition of awarding gold medals to the best fielders of each match. Kohli won the medal for the first time for his outstanding fielding efforts in India's opening match against Australia.

Shardul Thakur, who took a stunning catch at the boundary line to dismiss Rahmanullah Gurbaz in the match against Afghanistan, claimed the award second time. Meanwhile, KL Rahul won gold in the next match against arch-rivals Pakistan.
