The New Zealand team began the ODI World Cup 2023 with a bang as they won four games on the trot. At one stage they were sitting pretty at the top of the table but after the loss to India, the entire situation changed.

In their last game at the same venue, the Kiwis scored an imposing 401 runs on the board. Despite setting a huge total, Kane Williamson saw Fakhar Zaman score the fastest ton for a Pakistani in ODI World Cup history. As rains came down, Pakistan won the game on the Duckworth and Lewis method.

New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson was speaking to Star Sports India the official broadcasters of the tournament. The Kiwi skipper said that Virat Kohli is his current favourite player in the world right now. Williamson also went on to say that he shares a good rapport with the former Indian skipper off the field.

Virat Kohli scored a memorable 101 not-out on Sunday versus South Africa in Kolkata. This was his 49th ODI century which took him level with the great Sachin Tendulkar. If Virat Kohli scores a century for India on Sunday versus the Netherlands he will become the first batter to score 50 centuries in the history of ODI Cricket.

Speaking about the game, New Zealand won the toss and chose to bowl first. Kusal Mendis had also wanted to bowl first after winning the toss. The decision taken by Kane Williamson was due to the overhead conditions around. Bengaluru has been witnessing rains and if it does pour later the Duckworth and Lewis method will come into play.
