Pakistan bowling coach Morne Morkel has resigned from his post following their disappointing performance in the ODI World Cup 2023. The former South Africa pacer joined the Pakistan senior men's team on a six-month contract in June this year. His first assignment was the two-match Test series against Sri Lanka. Morkel's expertise was expected to make a major impact in Pakistan's World Cup campaign. But sadly, their bowling performance was a significant factor contributing to their early departure from the tournament.

The Men in Green failed to reach the semi-finals as they finished fifth in the points table. They started the campaign with consecutive wins but later suffered a string of defeats. Even Afghanistan handed them a massive upset as they recorded their maiden ODI win against Babar Azam's side.
