Former World Cup winner Shane Watson picked the Indian captain Rohit Sharma as the Player of the Tournament in the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023 in India.

Former Australian cricketer Shane Watson picked Rohit Sharma as the Player of the Tournament in the ODI World Cup 2023. The former World Cup winner predicted the Indian captain to win the most prestigious individual award in the tournament. Watson was a part of the Australian team that won the ODI World Cup in 2007 and 2015.

Rohit has been in tremendous form in the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023. After not having a good start in the tournament, Rohit has scored runs for fun in the other matches. Rohit was dismissed for a duck against Australia. It led India to an early collapse of 2/3 against a fiery attack of Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, and Josh Hazlewood. 

In the very next game, Rohit scored a hundred in 65 balls, the fastest by an Indian batter in the history of the ODI World Cup. Against Afghanistan, Rohit brought his A game and has continued it since then. Since the game against Afghanistan, Rohit has not just been scoring runs for fun, but also scoring them at a fantastic strike rate.

In 5 matches in the tournament till now, Rohit has 311 runs at a batting average of 62.20, including a hundred and a fifty. Rohit has hit 17 sixes and 33 fours. Rohit has been selfless in his batting approach till now, which has immensely helped India to chase down the targets. Along with Shubman Gill, Rohit has formed a deadly batting pair. It has helped India a lot. 

Even as a captain, Rohit has been right on the money. Some of his decisions have been praiseworthy. He has taken risks as well. As a fielder, Rohut has taken some very good catches. As a player, Rohit is doing everything he can to ensure a good atmosphere in the team. He is leading by example, which is very good to see. Rohit is currently the fourth-highest run scorer in the tournament.
