Bumrah dismissed Mitchell Marsh for a duck. David Warner and Steve Smith built a partnership of 69-run. But Warner fell on 41 off 52 balls to Kuldeep Yadav. Australia never managed to look quiet in the game after the wicket of the southpaw.

Jadeja picked the wicket of Smith who was the highest scorer with 46 runs was dismissed with jaffer delivery of the left-arm spinner. After his wicket, the five-time World Champions were reduced to 119/5. Australia were all out for 199 with the Indian spinners keeping them under the pressure. With the pressure Marnus Labuschagne and Alex Carey were dismissed in quick succession.
Ashwin dismissed Cameron Green leaving the Kangaroos, 140/7. They went on to lose their next eight wickets for 89 runs. With a small cameo from skipper Cummins and pacer Starc, they made 199 runs and made sure that they had something to defend when they came into the second inning.
India's top order fails
In reply, Australia got the best possible start. Rohit Sharma, Ishan Kishan, and Shreyas Iyer got back to the pavilion without scoring. India found themselves tottering at 2/3 in 2 overs. Kishan was the first one to be dismissed as the left-handed batter played with hard-hand and gave a simple catch into the first slip to Cameron Green on Starc's ball. Josh Hazelwood gave India a double blow picking the wickets of Rohit and Iyer creating havoc in Chennai.
Virat Kohli and KL Rahul looked settled as both the batters reached their half-centuries. The batters looked in complete control and took no risks while playing and played proper cricketing shots. Indian fans would love to see these two batters take their team home and give valuable points in the first match.
