India suffered a huge blow for the remainder of their campaign in the ODI World Cup 2023. Hardik Pandya has been ruled out of the tournament. The star All-rounder suffered an injury while playing the match against Bangladesh in Pune. In an attempt to stop the ball, Hardik twisted his ankle and suffered an injury. Hardik was ruled out of the match against Bangladesh then and there.

Virat Kohli bowled the rest of the overs for India. Soon after his injury, Hardik could not even get up. It looked a bit serious at the moment. However, the reports after the scans suggested that Hardik might not take much time to recover from the injury. Pandya did not play the match against New Zealand. He was taken to the National Cricket Academy for quick recovery.

But with each passing day, the concerns about Hardik's injury started to grow. Reports suggested that Hardik would not play the game against England and Sri Lanka. It led to doubts over his participation in the tournament. The reports claimed the Indian All-rounder to be unavailable till the semifinal stage of the tournament. But the latest reports suggest him to be ruled out of the tournament. 

Prasidh Krishna replaces Hardik Pandya in the Indian squad

Reports suggest that Hardik could not recover from the ankle injury as quickly as everyone expected him to. The big blow has meant that India has got Prasidh Krishna as a cover for the All-rounder. Krishna is a right-arm pacer who has a brilliant seam presentation. The decision to include a pacer as a replacement of the All-rounder has puzzled many fans. 

Hardik provided a perfect balance for the Indian team. The 29-year-old could anchor the innings with the bat and provide good finishing touches as well. With the ball, Hardik could be a genuine fifth bowling option. India is now without the balance of Hardik. Instead, India is playing 6 genuine batters and 4 genuine bowlers with Ravindra Jadeja in the lineup. India might play Prasidh against Netherlands in Bengaluru.

Worst part is we don't even have an allrounder of Hardik's calibre to replace him in squad. Hardik's availability has haunted us in past as well still we couldn't produce someone like him to use in absence of Hardik.
