Australia faces a big blow ahead of their match against England in the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023. Australia is set to miss on eof their key players, Glenn Maxwell, from the match against the defending champions. The match which is set to be played in world's biggest cricket cricket stadium in Ahmedabad, will not feature the Australian star All-rounder.
The reports suggest that Maxwell fell from a Golf cart while having an off season outside the team hotel before the match. In the process, Maxwell attained a concussion, which ahs ruled him out of the match against England in Narendra Modi stadium. If what reports suggest are to be believed, it might be a big blow for Australia, considering how good Maxwell has been for them.
In the ODI World Cup 2023, Maxwell has stepped up for Australia as an All-rounder. In one or the other way, Maxwelll has contributed for his team. In 6 matches so far, the ;Big Shoe' has 196 runs at abatting average of 39.20, at a batting SR of 148.48, including a hundred. With the ball, Maxwell has 4 wickets at a good economy of 4.82.
Glenn Maxwell, a key performer of Australia in the tournament
Against India, Maxwell could not bat well. But with the ball, Maxwell was the main spinner, as he ended up with figures of 0/33 in his 8 overs, where Adam Zampa went for runs. Against South Africa, where other bowlers went for runs, Maxwell bowled a dream spell in Lucknow. In his 10 overs, Maxwell claimed 2 wickets and conceded only 34 runs.
Against Sri Lanka, Maxwell scored an unbeaten 31*(21) and claimed 1/36 in his 9.3 overs. Against Pakistan, Maxwell was dismissed for a duck. With the ball, Maxwell conceded 40 runs in 5 overs. It was a rare bad outing for Maxwell. But he soon came back and hit the fastest ton in the history of the ODI World Cup against Netherlands. Against New Zealand, Maxwell scored 41(24) with the bat and claimed 1/62 with the ball.
