In the match against England, Rahul was brilliant as a wicketkeeper. He took some brilliant catches and inflicted stumpings as well. The Indian wicketkeeper stopped some extras that could have proven costly otherwise. With not much scope for the medal to be given to others. Rahul got to wear the medal for the second time in the tournament.

Indian bowling was so lethal against England that the fielders had little to no job in helping them take wickets. Most of the wickets were either bowled or were leg before wicket, caught behind, or stumped. So, it was not difficult for the jury to adjudge Rahul as the candidate for the match. Meanwhile, India registered a fantastic 100-run win against England, which extended their winning streak to 6 wins in a row in the ODI World Cup 2023.
