This decision worked in favour of the Aussies, as they showcased a world-class batting performance at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, amassing a total of 399 runs while losing eight wickets in their allotted 50 overs.

The trio of David Warner, Steve Smith, and Marnus Labuschagne formed the core of this exceptional batting display. Warner delivered a century, notching up 104 runs from 93 balls, featuring 11 boundaries and three sixes. Meanwhile, Smith contributed 71 runs from 68 balls, which featured nine fours and a six. Labuschagne added 62 runs from 47 deliveries, aided by seven fours and two sixes.

However, the standout performer in the Australian innings was Glenn Maxwell, who achieved the fastest century in a World Cup match. The star all-rounder completed his century in just 40 deliveries, ultimately reaching a total of 106 runs from 44 balls, featuring nine fours and eight sixes. Logan van Beek put in a respectable effort with the ball, securing four wickets for 74 runs in ten overs.

The Netherlands managed to score only 90 runs before succumbing to the Australian bowling attack. Opening batsman Vikramjit Singh was their top scorer with 25 runs at a run-a-ball, being the only player to surpass the 15-run mark.

Adam Zampa shone with the ball for the Australian team, delivering figures of 4/8 in three overs. Mitchell Marsh claimed two wickets, while the pace trio of Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, and skipper Pat Cummins each secured one wicket.

With this victory, the Australian team has climbed to the fourth spot in the standings, accruing six points from five games, including three wins and two losses. The host team, India, still leads the standings with a perfect record, earning them 10 points from five wins in as many games.
