The fiery altercation between former teammates Sreesanth and Gautam Gambhir during a Legends League cricket match continues to stir conversations. Now Sreesanth's wife, Bhuvneshwari, has joined the discussion, questioning Gambhir's upbringing.
Expressing shock at Gambhir's behaviour, Bhuvneshwari commented on social media, emphasising the significance of upbringing and its reflection in on-field conduct. "It is so shocking to hear from Sree that a player who has played for India with him for many years can stoop to this level," writes Bhuvneshwari.
"Even after so many years of retirement from active cricket, After all, upbringing matters a lot, and it shows up when these kinds of behaviours come up on the ground. Shocking, truly shocking," remarked Bhuvneshwari. It's worth noting that the two had one of the ugliest fights, and reactions are only coming from Sreesanth's side.
"He kept calling me Fixer," says Sreesanth
Sreesanth, recounting the incident on Instagram, revealed Gambhir repeatedly called him a "fixer" on live television during the match. He described keeping a sarcastic laugh while Gambhir used inappropriate language. The spat extended to Gambhir's interactions with umpires, using similar language.
"He kept on calling me 'fixer, you are a fixer, F*** off you fixer on live television on centre wicket," Sreesanth said while going live from his Instagram handle. "I just said, 'What are you saying?', I kept laughing in a sarcastic way. He spoke to the umpires in the same language when they tried to control him," he added.
Sreesanth was previously banned for life due to his alleged involvement in the IPL 2013 spot-fixing scandal. However, he had the ban reduced to seven years by the Supreme Court of India in 2019. The recent altercation with Gambhir has revived discussions about on-field conduct and sportsmanship in cricket, with social media buzzing about the clash between the former Indian cricketers.
