IPL 2024: Top five cricketers who might not be part of the league

In just a month and a half, the top Indian and International players will be in action. Indian Premier League is slated to kick off on the 22nd of Match with the final to be played in May.

Most of the players will target the IPL in a bid to get ready for the World T20 tournament later this year. Chennai Super Kings and its fans will also look forward to the season as MS Dhoni is set to bid goodbye to top-flight cricket post the tournament. 

In this article, we take a closer look at the top five players who are doubtful for the IPL 2024 campaign. 

Suryakumar Yadav – Mumbai Indians

World’s best T20I batter is set to miss the early part of the IPL 2024 tournament. Suryakumar Yadav is one of the biggest star who is doubtful for IPL 2024. The 33-year-old suffered an injury during the third T20I between India and South Africa in Johannesburg. Suryakumar Yadav had scored a terrific ton to help India win the series. 

Mumbai Indians will want to have the services of their best batter in a bid to try and win the title. With the T20 World Cup to follow the IPL season, The Indian Board and its medical staff will want Mumbai Indians to exercise caution.

Rashid Khan – Gujarat Titans 

Afghanistan star Rashid Khan is a huge hit wherever he goes and plays. The Gujarat Titans spinner hasn’t played much cricket since the end of the ODI World Cup 2023. The 26-year-old bowler has just been under the knife and had pulled out of the Big Bash League. 

To preserve himself, Rashid Khan will not play any part during the 2024 season of Pakistan Super League. It is wait and watch as Rashid Khan is doubtful for IPL 2024 season is concerned. This news could come as a huge blow for the 2022 champions and its fans. 

Hardik Pandya – Mumbai Indians 

Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya hasn’t played cricket since injuring himself against Bangladesh. The 30- year-old hurt his ankle during the ODI World Cup 2023 campaign and hasn’t played since. 

What was supposedly a small injury has turned into yet another lengthy lay-off for Hardik Pandya. If he misses the IPL there is good chance that Rohit Sharma could be given the captaincy once again. The former Gujarat Titans skipper was handed the Mumbai Indians leadership role in controversial circumstances. 

Mohammed Shami – Gujarat Titans 

Yet another Indian player who is doubtful for IPL 2024 is none other than Mohammed Shami. The 33-year-old seamer is struggling with an ankle injury and has flown out to consult doctors overseas. 

Mohammed Shami was the lead wicket-taker during the ODI World Cup 2023. The right-arm pacer has already missed the South African tour and is a doubtful participant in the England series. 

Rishabh Pant – Delhi Capitals 

After missing the entire 2023 due to his rehab, Rishabh Pant has already lost out on a lot of action. The young wicketkeeper and batter had got into a bad accident towards the end of 2022. 

Now with the youngster on the mend, Delhi Capitals have indicated they do not want to rush Pant into playing. Despite a touted Impact Player role, there is a chance that Rishabh Pant’s role is doubtful for IPL 2024.
