Since its inception in 2008, the Indian Premier League (IPL) has steadily grown in both sports and business. The world's biggest franchise cricket league has completed its 16 successful editions. Ahead of the 2024 IPL auction, scheduled to take place on December 19, brand valuation consultancy Brand Finance has released the brand value of the league and all 10 teams.
According to the consultancy firm, the market value of the cash-rich league has increased by a staggering 28% to $10.7 billion (roughly Rs 89,232 crore) after the 2023 season from $8.4 billion in 2022. This is a 433% increase since the launch of the tournament. Increased viewership, full-capacity stadiums, and massive media participation are some of the factors that have contributed to this growth.
