The much-awaited Indian Premier League (IPL) Auction 2024 finally yielded some surprising news. One such surprise was World Cup 2023 final’s Player of the Match, Travis Head. Head was sold to Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) for INR 6.80 crores. The surprise factor was that cricketing experts were hoping Head to go for something close to 10 crores.

While the Chennai Super Kings were initially contenders for the Australian left-hander, their enthusiasm waned as the bidding surpassed the INR 6 crore mark. Eventually, they withdrew from the race, paving the way for SRH to secure Travis Head. CSK, who already had an overseas opener in New Zealand's Devon Conway, likely considered this factor in their decision to exit the bidding process early. Once the left-hand batter was sold to SRH, the former SRH skipper shared a post on his Twitter handle tagging Head.

The veteran Australian batter shared a post in which it can be seen SRH franchise blocking Warner on Twitter.  Interestingly, SRH has removed him from all Social Media sites Twitter as well as Instagram and Facebook. The Warner-SRH saga is something that all the fans who watch IPL closely are well aware of. Hence, Warner sharing such a tweet, can be seen as a veteran Australian opener warning Head about the way SRH team management treats their players. It is also not be forgotten that it was under Warner’s captaincy that the Orange Army won their first and only IPL Trophy.

Warner- SRH Saga

During IPL 2021, the legendary Australian batter commenced the season as the captain of the Hyderabad franchise but was relieved of captaincy midway through. Subsequently, he was excluded from the playing XI, resulting in only eight appearances for SRH in the tournament that year.

Following SRH's lone victory in the initial six matches of IPL 2021, Warner was removed from the captaincy role. Kane Williamson took over, but the change failed to alter SRH's fortunes and the team continued to struggle under the New Zealand batter throughout the challenging season. SRH found themselves as the initial team to be ousted from the playoff’s contention, concluding the season at the bottom of the table with only three victories in 14 matches.

Subsequently, Warner openly discussed his removal from the captaincy and exclusion from the playing XI, marking one of his most challenging seasons in IPL history. The Australian star expressed the difficulty of accepting the decision to strip him of the captaincy without receiving an explanation. He believed that his contributions to the franchise in the IPL over the years should have been considered when such decisions were being made.
