The Indian Cricket Board is in the process of finalizing the last details before officially revealing the dates for the 17th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). As mentioned earlier, the Board is aiming to commence the tournament on March 22, with the final anticipated to be held on May 26, just five days ahead of the commencement of the T20 World Cup scheduled to be hosted in the West Indies and the United States of America.

The confirmation of the schedule is contingent upon the announcement of election dates. Officials from the Indian Cricket Board remain hopeful about conducting the entire tournament in India, drawing inspiration from its successful hosting in 2019. However, several countries have expressed interest in hosting the upcoming edition of the lucrative league, presenting proposals to the Indian Cricket Board in case the management opts to organize some portions of it in another country.
Following the conclusion of India's five-match Test series against England on March 11, players are expected to take a break before joining their respective franchises for the IPL. With players slated to participate in a minimum of 14 games, concerns arise regarding workload management, especially considering the upcoming T20 World Cup.
While some international cricketers may contemplate withdrawing and joining the national camp before the IPL concludes, cricket boards have assured the Indian Cricket Board that players will be available until the final. However, this decision could be subject to change if players opt to prioritize workload management ahead of the mega tournament.
Women’s Premier League likely to start from February 22
Another good news for the fans is that the second edition of the Women’s Premier League is anticipated to kick off on February 22, concluding with the final on March 17, just five days ahead of IPL 2024. The tournament is expected to begin with the first game that will be played between the finalists of season 1.
In addition to it, the ground in Bengaluru and Delhi are set to host all the matches in the league, pending an official announcement. The final is expected to be played at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. Cricketers are expected to join their respective camps in the second week of February.
