Sunrisers Hyderabad initiated the bidding for Head, who had earned the prestigious title of Player of the Match in the World Cup semifinals and finals. Chennai Super Kings entered the fray shortly thereafter, leading to a competitive exchange of bids. Eventually, Sunrisers Hyderabad emerged victorious, securing the services of the powerful Australian batsman.

Teams exhibited a strong desire to invest heavily in Travis Head, given his exceptional performance in the ODI World Cup earlier in the year. Notably, he played a pivotal role in Australia's World Cup triumph, scoring a remarkable 137 runs off 120 balls in the final against India. Throughout the tournament, Head amassed 329 runs in six innings at an impressive average of 54.83.

In contrast to the previous year's auction, where he went unsold at a base price of Rs. 2 crore, the current auction witnessed a significant shift in his fortunes, reflecting the heightened demand for his services. Travis Head had previously played for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the 2016 and 2017 seasons. The renewed interest from teams underscores the recognition of his cricketing prowess and recent stellar performances.
