Shreyas Iyer might not have made a difference with the bat but on Monday it was a different story. The 29-year-old played a key role with a timely run-out to dismiss Ben Stokes for 11.
Ben Foakes got a thick edge and the ball went towards the square leg region. Spotting Ben Stokes running casually, Shreyas Iyer swooped down and threw the stumps down. There were massive celebrations as the third umpire confirmed Stokes’ dismissal.

The run-out of Ben Stokes affected by Shreyas Iyer was timely. England had come out after lunch with Stokes and Foakes as the two main batters with England still over 150 runs behind.
Jasprit Bumrah ended the game with figures of 9/91 as he took 3/46 in the second innings. The 30-year-old had picked 6/45 in the first innings to help India gain a lead of 143 runs. Due to this effort, Bumrah was given the Man of the Match award.
Speaking to the host broadcaster Bumrah said “As I said before, I don't look at numbers. As a youngster I did that and it made me excited. But now it's an added baggage. As a youngster that is the first delivery I learned was the Yorker. Had seen the legends of the game. Waqar, Wasim and even Zaheer Khan. We're going through a transition so I feel it's my responsibility to help them in any way I can”
Rohit Sharma was a happy captain after the massive win and he lauded his team during the post-match speech. “Very proud of such a young squad to come up against a team like that. Lot of the guys are quite young in terms of playing this form of the game. It'll take some time to be absolutely spot on. Want them to play freely without any pressure. Last couple of years England have been playing good cricket. Knew it wasn't going to be an easy series. Three more to go. We'll keep our check on it and make sure we do most things right”
