The incident happened shortly after Rohit and Yashasvi Jaiswal came out to bat following England's first innings in which they got bowled out for 246 in 64.3 overs.  Although Rohit didn't look happy with the fan's gesture, he remained calm before security took the invader away from the field. Notably, Kohli had opted out of the first two Tests of the five-match series due to personal reasons.

Talking about the match, Jaiswal (76* off 70) got India off to a flying start in their first innings, with Rohit providing excellent support at the other end in his short stay at the crease. The southpaw came out all guns blazing to show what India's bazball is all about. Meanwhile, Jack Leach (24 off 27) dismissed the India skipper in the 13th over. India ended Day 1 on a high as they are trailing by just 127 runs with 9 wickets in hand.
