For the third time in this game, Ravichandran Ashwin got involved in a spat with the opposition. At the end of the first day, it was with umpire Marais Erasmus after the last ball was bowled. During the second day, it was with James Anderson as Jaiswal was taking strike.
On Monday, the 37-year-old was involved in a verbal duel with Jonny Bairstow. The incident happened just before the last ball before lunch. Jasprit Bumrah got the ball to swing in and Bairstow missed the line of the ball.

Rohit Sharma went up for the DRS and Ashwin could be seen making his way to his teammates. That’s when the veteran bowler said a few words to Jonny Bairstow which caught the batter by surprise.
India make inroads before lunch –
It was a great morning for Team India and Ravichandran Ashwin in particular. Rehan Ahmed began with a positive frame of mind as he went after Axar Patel. India then got the first wicket when Ahmed played down the wrong line and was given out LBW.
Ollie Pope came out with an aggressive frame of mind hitting five fours in his knock of 23. Rohit Sharma took a stunning catch to help India give their third wicket and Ashwin his 498th Test wicket.
Joe Root tried to up the ante and hit two fours and a six during his knock of 16. The former England skipper decided to be aggressive as he went after Ashwin but he mistimed the shot. Axar Patel settled under the ball and took a neat catch as India celebrated wildly.
Jonny Bairstow fell at the stroke of Lunch after having scored 26 runs from 36 balls. Ben Stokes and Ben Foakes began cautiously after lunch. Shreyas Iyer saw the English skipper jog while attempting to take a single. The throw hit the stumps on the full as Stokes was just caught short of his crease for 11.
At the time of writing, Tom Hartley and Ben Foakes had already added 51 runs for the 8th wicket. India needed three wickets while England was still short by 128 runs with four sessions set to be played.
