The first Test match between India and England will be played in Hyderabad on January 25. Hyderabad is the venue where the two teams will play the first Test of five. The upcoming series against India is considered a huge test for the Baz-Ball techniques of Ben Stokes.

Ahead of the first game starting on Thursday, former England skipper Nasser Hussain has made a huge comment. The 55-year-old has warned against taking England lightly on the back of their new-found tactics in Test cricket.

The former English skipper was recently in conversation with SKY Sports before the series can begin. Terming India as the favourites, Hussain also reminded everyone that it was England that had last won a series in India in 2012/13

Nasser Hussain backs England to compete –

Former England skipper Nasser Hussain sat down with SKY Sports and spoke about the upcoming India vs England series. “India are the favourites, but every single challenge Baz-Ball has faced they’ve stuck to their guns and Ben Stokes and Brendon McCullum’s record is seriously good, I wouldn’t write them off,” he said.

Nasser Hussain also said, “Baz-Ball has been very successful, especially at home, and the two toughest places to tour are India and Australia. It’s going to be a massive challenge for England.”

The 55-year-old further said, “India will want to see how this new approach will work at home. It will be fascinating cricket and will be interesting to see how this particular side will go against what is one of the great cricketing outfits at the moment, which is India.”

Team India has named four frontline spinners in their team. It is expected that Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja will spearhead the attack. The third spinner option will be between Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav.

According to Nasser Hussain, “If you go to India, spin will play a big part. It has historically has done and I suspect it will always do. India do have a strong seam attack as well. India’s four spinners are very different to England’s. They have two left-arm finer spinners in Axar and Jadeja. They have a wrist spinner in Kuldeep Yadav, and Ashwin is one of the greatest of all time.”

Speaking about the England spinners Nasser Hussain ended by saying, “England have a solid left-arm spinner in Jack Leach and then three very inexperienced spinners after that in Tom Hartley, Shoaib Bashir, and Rehan Ahmed. It will be a particular challenge for them, but the selectors see a high ceiling for them.”
