England's batting innings started strongly with Ben Duckett's commanding 153, but Joe Root's dismissal and subsequent wickets led to a collapse, ending at 319. India's bowlers, led by Jasprit Bumrah and Kuldeep Yadav, capitalized on England's vulnerability. Mohammed Siraj was the pick of the Indian bowling as he snared four wickets to his name along with Kuldeep Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja accounting for two wickets each.

Yashasvi Jaiswal scores third Test ton of his career

Yashasvi Jaiswal continues his stellar performance in the ongoing series against England at the Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot, securing his second century and third of his career. Despite initial challenges in the first innings, the young left-handed opener demonstrated his prowess by notching a century in the second innings in just 122 deliveries.

Jaiswal has emerged as the standout player in the current Test series, reaching his century in the 39th over with a boundary off Mark Wood. Initially cautious following India's restriction of England to 319 runs in their first innings, he built a solid 30-run partnership with Rohit Sharma before Sharma fell LBW to Joe Root. After Sharma's departure, Jaiswal combined forces with Shubman Gill for a partnership exceeding 100 runs, swinging the game in India's favor.

The prolific India opener took an aggressive approach against seasoned pacer James Anderson, striking him for six and two boundaries. He maintained his attacking stance against Hartley in the subsequent over, hitting another six to reach his fifty. Undeterred, he repeated the feat on the very next delivery, exerting pressure on the English spinner. Unfortunately, after completing his hundred, the talented batter was forced to retire from the field due to a back complaint on 104 runs in 133 balls.
