The Men in Blue won by 20 runs in the 4th T20I at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium in Raipur on Friday, December 1. India sealed the five-match series 3-1 with a game to go. It cannot be termed as revenge for the World Cup loss, but India have scripted history by winning the most number of matches in T20 Internationals.

Both India and Australia have made a lot of changes in their playing XI from the last match. After being asked to bat first, Yashasvi Jaiswal gave India a flying start with some attacking shots. The southpaw departed for 37 in the sixth over, but ensured his team had a good score in the powerplay. Shreyas Iyer, who joined the side for the last two matches, failed to make an impact. Captain Suryakumar Yadav also had a bad day at the office.

Last match centurion Ruturaj Gaikwad took the role of an anchor while Rinku Singh brought out his natural game. The pair added 48 runs for the fourth wicket and set the stage for Jitesh Sharma to replicate his Indian Premier League (IPL) heroics. The wicketkeeper-batter gave India the much-needed boost with a quickfire 19-ball 35.

With Rinku and Jitesh on song, India looked well set to cross the 180-run mark but the Australians pulled the right strings towards the end. The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) star fell four runs short of his half-century. But more than that, not being able to add more runs in the last two overs will leave him disappointed. India managed to score only 13 runs for the loss of five wickets in the last 12 balls.

Australia struggled to get going against the Indian spin duo

In response to India's 174, Australia started strongly with Travis Head coming out all guns blazing. Apart from Head, the visitors' top order is relatively inexperienced at the international level and India have taken advantage of that. The spin duo of Axar Patel and Ravi Bishnoi dominated the proceedings as they combined to produce a brilliant spell of 33/4 in 8 overs.

Axar demolished the Aussie top order, including the wicket of the 2023 World Cup hero Head. Deepak Chahar also made a great comeback as he picked up the key wickets of Tim David and Matthew Short. Only captain Matthew Wade managed to resist but his side were reduced to 154/7 in 20 overs.
