Rohit Sharma gave a befitting reply to his dismal performance in the first two matches against Afghanistan. The Indian skipper smashed a breathtaking century in the third and final match of the series. Rohit recorded his fifth 100-plus score in the shortest format during his rescue operation for Team India at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Wednesday.

The 36-year-old was heavily criticised for registering two back-to-back ducks. Unfortunately in Mohali, he was run out due to a terrible mix-up with Shubman Gill, and in Indore, his poor shot selection was the cause. Rohit had a nervy start to his innings as Afghanistan pacer Fareed Ahmad was on fire.

The Chinnaswamy crowd was silent in the first powerplay as they lost four wickets in no time. Yashasvi Jaiswal was the first one to leave the crease and on the very next ball, Virat Kohli followed the former to the pavilion. Sanju Samson failed to capitalise on the opportunity and Shivam Dube had a bad day at the office today.

Opting to bat first, India were reduced to 22-4 in just 4.3 overs. However, things slowly turned in India's favour with Rinku Singh joining the skipper. The two added 190 runs for the fifth wicket - the highest partnership for any wicket for India in T20Is. Overcoming the top-order collapse, Rohit scored a hundred in just 64 balls and guided the Men in Blue to post a massive total of 212-4.

The 'Hitman' show was in full swing as the veteran opener hit 11 fours and 8 sixes en route to an unbeaten 121. This is the fourth-highest score by an Indian batter in T20Is. Rohit also becomes the first batter to have scored five hundreds in the T20 internationals. His compatriot Suryakumar Yadav and Glenn Maxwell of Australia are behind with four to their name.

Here's how fans reacted to Rohit Sharma's blazing century knock:
