Unfortunately, Commonwealth Games 2022 has to witness a shameful day. Be it fans, be it experts, or anyone else who loves hockey, it was not a good day for anyone after seeing what happened during the Pool B match between England and Canada during the men’s hockey event. Sports are all about sportsman spirit and respecting the opponent on and off the field.
But this principle went into jeopardy during the group stage match between Canada and England. All the fans who were there in the stadium and those who were watching have seen the behavior of players on the field which they had never seen.
England lost to Australia in the semi-final of the Men's hockey
It was the time when Balraj Panesar of Canada got involved in a brawl with England’s Chris Griffiths by holding his collar in hand. The field referee immediately showed him the red card and send him off straightaway. On the other hand, England’s Griffiths also received a yellow card for his behavior too.
All it happened just a few minutes before the hooter of halftime when Panesar manhandled Griffiths which increased the tension between both players. The conflict then involved other players from both teams accompanying their respective teammates. This brawl resulted in a pause in the match.

The hosts England were leading the match with a score line of 4-1 at the time when this brawl happened. In the end, the English team ended the match in a handsome win with a massive score line of 11-2. They advanced to the semi-finals after this win where Australia defeated them by 2-3 and eliminated England from the tournament.
In another semi-final of the men’s hockey, the Indian side defeated South Africa in a nail-biting thriller with a closed score line of 3-2. So, the men in blue will face the Aussies in the gold medal match of the men’s hockey event at the Commonwealth Games 2022 in Birmingham.
Apart from that, England and South Africa will lock horns with each other in the Bronze medal match of men’s hockey in CWG 2022.
