UK-based esports organisation, Vexed Gaming, is now ceasing all operations and has dropped its Apex Legends roster days before the ALGS Pro League is set to kick off.

The announcement came following the departure of Steve “JTB” James and Dan “Skiin” O’Hara. Their joint departure message on X offered an apology for the failures of the company leadership.

“It is evident that mistakes were made long before the recession that has left us scrambling to keep the lights on for the past year,” they said. This further pointed toward some ongoing issues behind the scenes.

Since starting back in 2015, Vexed Gaming has delved into multiple esports competitions like Apex Legends, VALORANT, Counter-Strike, Rainbow 6, and Halo. However, Apex Legends was their last standing roster.

The team consisted of Matej "MaTaFe" Fekonja, Andre "unlucky" Türk and Pedro "KIND4" Maldonado. They saw great success last year in their region and have amassed a huge fan following.

Failing to make it big?

Lots of esports organisations struggle financially. This is because the organisations earn mostly from sponsorship and tournament winnings. However, the sponsors looked for the best teams, and Vexed Gaming was nowhere near the top.

The news of roster disbandment was reportedly delivered to the team through an e-mail while they were in a scrim block before the ALGS Pro League. Vexed Gaming was also not a partnered team with ALGS, although it was also not clear if they applied for it.

Whatever the case may be, fan favourite and one of the best Apex Legends teams is now without any organisation. The team is now looking for a new organisation to back them up for the upcoming tournament.
